My Thoughts:
I enjoyed reading this sensual novella. It's sensuality without being overtly sexual is a rather refreshing concept.
Meretessa is the daughter of a wealthy merchant who finds the groom her father has chosen for her to be abhorrent. She decides to approach a man who has the reputation of being a connoisseur of women to teach her what it takes to make her future husband want her and for her to also enjoy the experience.
Nicolo finds his student a bit more enticing than he bargained for.
This is a quick read and I found Meretessa's innocence to be the catalyst in this story. The fact that she is a rather adept student makes this story go from unbelievable to a very enticing tale.
I gave this novella a 4.25 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization. The sensual rating gets 4.5 of 5 flames. It is a very sensual tale.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley to read and review.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book.

Training Tessa edition by Debra Doggett Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Hot little historical romance, this is a great little read and i really liked it.I really liked Tessa and Nicolo and enjoyed their story would read more of Debra's books
Tessa decides to learn the art of seduction from Nicolo to please the husband her father chooses for her but gets more than she bargained for. This is a fast-paced historical read, the story is entertaining and has plenty of steam.
A sensual and passionate story, Training Tessa is a compelling and delightful read. The hero teaches the heroine how to satisfy her future husband, but it is in for a surprise at the feelings she brings out in him. You’ll be caught up in this entertaining read from the first page to the last.
Training Tessa is a wonderfully sensual love story, with intriguing characters and a premise that drew me in right away. Tessa wants to learn about sex, so she can satisfy whatever man she winds up marrying, and tasks Nicolo da Parma with teaching her. Her father has betrothed her to an odious man, so naturally, Tessa is reluctantly fascinated by the seductive Nicolo and sparks fly.
I loved the interplay between Tessa and Nicolo, as they both struggle to figure out what she really wants in her life. Since this is historical romance, Tessa lives in a time when women weren’t expected–or really permitted–to enjoy sex. But she can’t resist the pleasures Nicolo teaches her about, and the ultimate question is can either of them resist their attraction and keep from falling for each other.
This novella offers a sensual treat for a summer’s day, or any day of the year. You’ll be whisked away to a delightful world with Tessa and Nicolo, and be irresistibly drawn to root for love to conquer all. Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down–I even read it on my phone while waiting in the doctor’s office, the first time I’d ever read a book on a cell phone. I just had to find out what happened next!
I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book just gave me a headache. Tessa turns to Nicolo, who is twenty years her senior, to learn the art of seduction. They both set strict conditions concerning the nature of their relationship which is really supposed to be more like a business transaction. These "conditions" seem to never exist as the story progresses. Nicolo's lessons are confusing. It seems like all of the characters talk in circles. I've read novellas where the characters are well developed despite the shortness of the story; this was not the case for Training Tessa. The actions of the characters seem to contradict the way the author paints them to be in the beginning of the story. The conflict that gets resolved was so convoluted by dialogue that it just didn't make sense to me. I'm so confused and annoyed by this novella that I'm not even sure this review makes sense. I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Training Tess is a seductive story of love, lust and happily ever after. Tess should have been born in an era where marriage evolves through love and mutual choice. Repelled by her father's decision for her future, Tessa makes a decision of her own. She longs for a union with a man she desires, but if she is forced to marry a repugnant man, she wants to learn how to please him.She hires a man, Nicolo da Parma, to teach her the art of seduction. What she didn't expect is the deep desire he evokes within her.
Debra Doggett brings to life forbidden desire in this fun romp where both heroine and hero discover that love trumps all.
I received this book in an exchange and am so glad I did. It's a wonderful short read.
